Advanced ex-vivo approaches to measuring stratum corneum oxidative stress: The HLPC-TBARS-EVS Protocol.
In the field of cutaneous tissue investigation there is a need for the development of new protocols to non-invasively establish the safety and efficacy of dermocosmetics and topical products. An HPLC-TBARS-EVSC (high performance liquid chromatography–thiobarbituric acid reactive species–ex vivo stratum corneum (SC)) assay was developed for the lipid peroxidation measurement on subjects’ SC obtained by tape stripping. The protocol has been successfully applied to evaluate the efficacy of sunscreen compounds.
